Common reasons a Pin underperforms on shape alone
- Reusing a square Amazon/eBay-style main image directly — it displays small and gets less feed real estate than a 2:3 Pin.
- An extremely tall infographic-style image beyond about 1:2.1 that gets cropped, hiding the bottom of the design.
- Landscape photos, which perform worse in Pinterest’s primarily mobile, vertical-scrolling feed.

Can I use my Amazon or eBay product photo as a Pin?
You can, but it usually isn’t the ideal shape. Amazon and eBay images are typically closer to square, while Pinterest strongly favors a taller 2:3 image — a square photo gets noticeably less space in the feed.
What happens if my Pin is too tall?
Pinterest crops Pins that exceed roughly a 1:2.1 (height:width) ratio in the feed, so anything near the bottom of a very tall image may not be seen.
Does Pinterest require a white background?
