- Print speed too fast. Fine barcode bars need more time under the printhead to resolve cleanly than large text or blocks do — a speed that looks fine for text can blur a barcode.
- Darkness set incorrectly. Too low, and narrow bars come out thin or incomplete; too high, and heat bleeds sideways until adjacent bars merge together.
- The barcode was already degraded in the source file — stretched, low-resolution, or re-rasterized from a screenshot rather than the original vector or high-resolution embedded image.
